Wal-Mart Uniform

I went ahead a little bit with our readings and read the article "If Preppies Took Over Wal-Mart." I thought this article was an interesting one and thought Wal-Mart took a new approach at trying to boost their sales and appearance. The Wal-Mart at my hometown was built in 2007 and after reading this I just realized that the workers wear blue polo's and khaki pants. I do agree with author, Michael Barbaro when he says Wal-Mart is a little late on the blue polo's because many companies are starting to wear an even classier shirt, a button up. I think this is a great approach as boosting sales by attracting "upper scale" people, but at the same time keeping that "casual, easy-going look." Appearance is a big factor in the business community. A uniform helps all the workers look like a "team" because they are all dressed the same, and all there to do one thing which is to serve the customers with the best customer service possible.
